How a sustainable lifestyle and technologies can change the world [1.2 RECYCLE]

DOCUMENTARY OBJECTIVE

WRITTEN NARRATIVE PROPOSAL

The current work aims to highlight the importance of adopting a sustainable lifestyle and the technologies that can affect our environment positively in the closest future. This research shows the historical evolution of the environmental problem, gives some representative examples of the actual situation of the problem and suggests some attainable ways that could help to improve the situation and establish a sustainable way of thinking and living. In order to gather the needed data, different sources were used, such as online books, scientific presentations and online articles. Interviews from Giuseppe Romano, Roma Costruzioni’s Manager, and a Senior expert associate for public relations and protocol in the city of Makarska were also incorporated in order to enlighten our work.

We have chosen the title “How a sustainable lifestyle and technologies can change the world” because we strongly believe that people, with the help of technology, will be able to make an important change in order to save our planet. In recent months, we have talked about the circular economy, redesign, reuse, reduction and recycling. We decided to focus on waste recycling as we consider it as the prerequisite for any example of circularity. In particular, we focused on how waste, from the past to nowadays, has affected our lifestyle, our society, our environment and the way our technologies may help us to protect our environment.

The first part of our work is a video, which deals with the ways that waste is being managed to start from the most remote moment that we have evidence of. The second video, deals with today’s recycling situation, drawing further attention to an emergency that now affects everyone and to which we must intervene. As it comes to the third video, it is referred to our future actions and initiatives in order to avoid anything harmful and promote recycling. The third video is also related to the videos of our interviews.

In the past, the waste problem was nothing particularly serious because the products in circulation were very few and mostly natural. Following the second industrial revolution, the situation changed: the number of products was been increased dramatically so that many had become waste.

We remember some very useful inventions of our time, such as plastic, for its lightness and transparency, but unfortunately, it is harmful to the environment in its exceeded usage. This is the reason why it must be disposed of correctly. This is a situation dangerously serious because a lot of waste (plastic bottles, pieces of cardboard, cigarette butts etc.) ends to the beaches, pollutes water and soil and disrupts the beauty of our surroundings.

In general, the global risk is being gradually increased. Just bring in mind that today, in various parts of the world there are itinerant islands made entirely of plastic. To solve all this it is necessary that those who have committed such damage, us human beings, we should resolve it. There are plenty and different ways to attain a circular way of living and among this we should remember above all that of recycling. By following simple rules, trying to be more careful and with the help of new technologies, we will really be able to curb this disaster. New technologies will allow the use of biofuels, adequate waste management with QR codes in garbage bags, etc. Social networks can also help us remember daily the ways that waste is distributed inside the recycling bins. In short, there are many ways to save our planet and our own life but we have to hurry up a lot.
